Target Audience

Health care professionals specializing in the field of neuroscience, including all levels of nurses and other professionals involved in various outpatient and inpatient clinical settings.

Course Goal

This course has been curated for nurses who care for the neuroscience patient. Topics related to the science of neurological disorders, cultural considerations in providing care, and collaboration among interdependent healthcare professionals will be offered. Oral and poster presentations will afford all attendees the opportunity to learn and network with colleagues.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Describe the four pillars of professional practice
  • Identify the way to use research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement to transform patient care and outcomes
  • Explain clinical options for improving neurological outcomes in the treatment of spinal pathology
  • Identify the etiology of SUDEP and the importance of awareness in the acute care environment
  • Define the typical and atypical presentation of status epilepticus; identifying treatment and management 
  • Apply latest updates on evaluation and management of acute stroke care
  • Define individualized treatments for brain tumor management in the continuum of care, based on tumor type
  • Address current standards of best practice related to the evaluation and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementias (ADRD) 
  • Define relevant skills to achieve in expanding professional development, not limited to high quality work, honesty and integrity
  • Identify and apply key cultural considerations in the healthcare environment

Nursing Credits Available

The hours obtained by attending this CE event can be used toward recertification for CNRN and SCRN.
