Attendees can earn 4 CE contact hours* for attending the symposium and completing the evaluation. The sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the symposium.

Attendees can be awarded 1 CE contact hour for every 60 minutes of educational content they attend and evaluate. Participants must complete an overall conference evaluation to receive contact hours.

As a result of this activity, learners will be able to:

Anatomy and Assessment Session

  • Identify anatomical features of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine and correlate anatomy to assessment findings.
  • Describe the normal functions of the brain lobes, brainstem and cranial nerves, and the cerebellum.
  • Assess normal function of the brain and identify common pathology.

Seizure and Epilepsy Session

  • Describe the basic principles of seizure first aid and emergency management, including when and how to administer rescue medications in the acute care setting.
  • Identify common anti-seizure medications, their mechanisms of action, and potential side effects.
  • Discuss strategies for medication adherence and lifestyle modifications that can improve seizure control.
  • Describe the prevalence of drug-resistant epilepsy and its impact on patient quality of life.
  • Discuss neurosurgical approaches to epilepsy management.
  • Describe the role of the RN caring for patients who have undergone surgical intervention to treat epilepsy.
